Description:
One day, James complains of being tired of being coloured red to Sir Topham Hatt, who tells him to stop. Later, James sees a green bus with colourful floral patterns and, inspired by the sight, tells Sir Topham Hatt that he wants to be painted like it. His request is granted, and Bridget paints colourful flowers on James the next day. His new paint job is positively received by children and visited by bees and butterflies, but the other engines then begin mocking James' flower patterns, upsetting him and making him no longer like the pattern. Sir Topham Hatt then orders him to stop his complaints again and makes him sleep outside the sheds in the rain for the night. The next morning, James wakes up to find that the rain washed the flower patterns off, greatly pleasing him.
